The KSBHA remains active today
Since it formed the KSBHA has not been stagnant, but has been active in pursuing the best medical practices and extending its umbrella over types of health practitioners such as therapists, athletic trainers, naturopathic doctors, and radiologic technologists. Kansas City Foot Specialists is proud to have our very own Dr. David B. Laha serve as a board member on the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts. Kansas Governor Brownback appointed Dr. Laha to the board in 2012. Dr. Laha and his fellow board members oversee and license nearly 27,000 health care professionals!
A board serving the best interests of the public
The KSBHA serves the public by establishing a forum for formal complaints, as well as holding multiple public meetings throughout the year. The board’s seeks to “safeguard the public through licensure, education and discipline of those who practice the healing arts in Kansas.” The KSBHA believes in being open and courteous in dealing with matters of licensing and handling complaints. The board understands that public scrutiny of healthcare professions is growing, so they want to be as accessible as possible in order to put the public at ease by communicating the best healthcare needs for the state of Kansas.
Doctors believe in the KSBHA mission
The mission of serving the public is one that board members feel individually responsible for upholding. Board member, Dr. McMaster, states that his personal mission is to use, “my training, education, and experience to advise, educate, and protect our Kansas licensees while serving in the best interest of our patients.” The 2010 Acting Executive Director, Kathleen Selzer Lippert, stated, “we [the KSBHA] are looking for ways to enhance the public’s understanding of our mission and the health care providers’ knowledge of the Board’s expectations.” The first line of the KSBHA reaching out to the public is through their website that can be visited at www.ksbha.org.
